(red) Der niederländische Privatgelehrte und Sachbuchautor Willem (Wim) Hendrik Zitman (Abb. 1) (*1941) hat im Gefolge seiner Studien eine ganze Reihe von Werken zu ägyptologischen, kosmologischen und geologischen Themen veröffentlicht. In jüngerer Vergangenheit hat W. Zitman sich auch umfassend mit dem Atlantis-Problem befasst.

Nach dem Besuch der Sekundarschule und der Hochschule für Ingenieurwesen (Fakultät für Architektur) schlug er eine Berufslaufbahn als Bauingenieur (Projekt-Manager im Bereich der Projektentwicklung) ein. Über seine Forschungs-Schwerpunkte schreibt er selber: "Seit meiner Jugend habe ich ein nicht endendes Interesse an der Naturgeschichte der Erde, an Archäologie, Geologie und Paläontologie. In den vergangenen 30 Jahren habe ich Astronomie und Astrologie studiert, wobei ich mich auf altertümliche Astronomie und Chronologie konzentrierte. Während der jüngsten 21 Jahre habe ich mich auf Ägyptologie spezialisiert und forsche auf diesem Gebiet."

In Bezug auf Wim Zitmans Atlantisforschung und deren ägyptologischen Hintergrund heißt es bei Tony O’Connell: "In seinem Buch Het Horus Enigma (Das Horus-Rätsel) he argues for a greater appreciation of the astronomical knowledge of the ancient Egyptians. His latest book, Van Egypte naar Atlantis (Von Ägypten nach Atlantis), auch auf Niederländisch, claims an Atlantean origin for the early Egyptian civilisation, with Atlantis having existed in the Atlantic (30?°30’N.35????°7’30”W) before its submergence. Diese Ansicht beruht auf his reading of various Egyptian texts such as the “Pyramid Texts, Sarcophagus Texts, Underworld Books and in the Book of the Dead”. Although this suggestion is not new, Zitman has at least attempted to put some flesh on the bones of the idea."
